Ridgeway Residence

Design Challenge:
A developer purchased a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath single family residence with spzce challenges and finishes that needed updating. The existing kitchen was small and was separated from the backyard by a small enclosed porch. The existing stairs to the second floor were very narrow and winding.

The two bedrooms at the back had sloping ceiling which limited space in the rooms. One bathroom was shared by all three bedrooms, and closets were small and cramped.

Design Solution:
A rear addition and raised dormers were constructed, which expanded space on the first floor, and added full ceiling height on the second floor. The first floor was opened up and the living areas are now open to the kitchen, with large windows, and a door leading to an outdoor deck.

The Master Bedroom was enlarged at the back of the house with a large walk-in closet and master bathroom. The stairs were reconfigured and hallway opened up. A laundry room was added to the second floor for convenience.

A guest room and bathroom was added in the basement along with a family room, storage, laundry, mechanical rooms.
