Frank Michalski, Principal

Frank MichalskiIn 2002, Frank founded Northlight Architects in order to work more closely and directly with clients who seek both a creative and steady partner in the architectural design process. Since then, Frank has collaborated with numerous homeowners who have needed a trusted guide and expert through the design/ build process; with developers who need an expert-on-the-spot to support their timeline and goals; and with business owners who need someone to balance their creative vision and practical needs. A registered architect in the state of Illinois, he is LEED accredited, a member of NCARB, and is past chair of the Small Firm Exchange in the American Institute of Architects, Chicago Chapter. He had been active with the Construction Specifications Institute, where he served as a board member from 2002-2006.

Mr. Michalski received his Masters degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was the recipient of the Ryerson Traveling Fellowship in 1982. He studied in London while completing his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee.

Lately, Mr. Michalski has focused on the re-use of existing buildings, including rehabilitation and renovation, helping homeowners maximize their space or add new space, while remaining in their current home.
